Recently, a number of severe thunderstorms have produced large hail, damaging winds and flooding. The hail caused damage to aluminum siding, gutters, downspouts, and in some instances shingled roofs. This damage is covered in most cases by your homeowners insurance policy.
Some insurance companies insist that hail only comes from one direction. Watch this video and judge for yourself.
What does the damage look like?
Hail damage appears as a round or teardrop shaped dent, not sharp or jagged. The more wind-driven, the more dents will be present. When hail falls straight down, it doesn't damage aluminum siding.
Pursuing an Insurance Claim
We are a LOCAL company specializing in the restoration of hail and wind damage to aluminum siding, roofing and gutters. We will determine if there is significant enough damage to pursue a claim, give you a thorough explanation of the claims process, and we will meet the insurance company claims adjuster at your home to document the damage.
Repairing the Damage
We remove your existing siding to the underlayment and dispose of the scrap material. We will wrap your home in either DuPont Tyvek Homewrap or Dow Styrofoam insulation board, depending on the age and construction of your home. We then install Mastic premium vinyl siding in your choice of styles and colors. For roofing we remove all the old material to the deck. We replace any failed wood decking, install GAF Weatherwatch ice and water shield, replace the pipe flashing, replace all vents, install 15 lb. felt and install GAF Timberline 30 year Architectural shingles.
Our Warranty
Cottage Hill Exteriors uses Mastic siding products and GAF/Elk roofing materials. Mastic siding has a transferrable limited lifetime warranty, and GAF Timberline shingles are warranted for a minimum of thirty years.
Cottage Hill Exteriors warrants their workmanship for a period of three years. If there is a problem, simply give us a call and we'll gladly make the necessary repairs.
Due to the recent rash of Ice Dam issues, we must clarify that ice damming is NOT a warranty related issue, rather an unusual weather phenomenon. The problem is usually caused by inadequate attic ventilation.
